The Mackintosh School of Architecture Friday Lecture Series is a tradition within the school, curated and organised by Stage Four Diploma in Architecture students for the second semester of the academic year. The theme of the lecture series was that of ‘Uncertainty’, the genesis of which came as a direct response to the uncertainty surrounding the future of the Mackintosh Building at the Glasgow School of Art, which was ravaged by a second fire in the summer of 2018. In the immediate aftermath of the fire, there was much debate about whether it was appropriate or possible to rebuild, replace, or repair the building.

Selected guests were invited to give a lecture based on the theme of ‘Uncertainty’, the lecture series was spread over nine weeks culminating in a lecture from Sir David Chipperfield.
